SOLD 0163: South Bend, #59, 8-1/2', Varnished 6 strip bamboo flyrod. 8-1/2' 3/2., for #5 line. 5-1/2 oz, Lite-lock chrome reelseat with 'butterscotch' spacer, 6" Comficient cork grip has slight cork damage at check end. (the photo makes it look much worse than it really is) Well-fitting chrome ferrules. Blackened-steel snake guides, garnix stripper guide. Brown wraps, no tipping. Strap-and-ring hook keeper. Full South Bend Decal and model number on shaft. Flamed cane is nicely darkened with a few chips. All joints proper length and straight. This (est. 1942) example is mostly all original as made. Original bag with full SB label, however, the rubber-stamped model data has faded away. A quality storage case is available..
I have re-wrapped the stripper and one guide since the photos were taken. The rod could be fished as is, but with an easy restoration you could add it to your S-B collection. Good-Very good. $
