This early Heddon #14 model is believed to have been made in the late 1930s - prior to Heddon's 'naming' convention. Heddon gave this rod the #14 designation, it is said, because that was the suggested retail selling price. There are small areas of darkened cane that look as if the blank was flamed, but are most likely surface stains from when the rod was not properly dried prior to storage. I have inspected the cane and find that it is sound. The ferrule(s) fit is very good. The butt ferrule on this rod is a 2-1/2F (21/64ths) and Heddon classified this as "Regular Bass", or "Dry Fly Trout" action. A good looking rod that is ready to fish or collect. Very good, refinished. $195.
