0282: Montague, Sunbeam, Varnished 6-strip bamboo flyrod. 9', 3/1 for #6 line. 6-1/4 oz. Chrome plated 'Titelock' reelseat, 5-3/4", mild half-Wells cork grip. Bright nickel ferrules. Black, hardened steel, snake guides, nickel-silver stripper guide. Strap & ring hook keeper. Blue and White, space dyed silk wraps. Original cloth bag with excellent label. A quality storage case is available seperately.
This early Montague Sunbeam fly rod is completely original except that one guide has been repaired on the mid section. Montague decal about 40% complete but showing enough data to identify the Sunbeam model name. Original decorative medallion wraps near the grip end of the butt joint. All joints are full length. No damage to any of the bamboo. Beautiful, lightly flamed damage free split-bamboo throughout. The ferrules are all sound and fit well.
This Montague Sunbeam is in cared-for original condition and should have collector interest. The grip is left as found with 'fisherman's patina'. Add this to your collection, buy it for sentimental reasons, or take it back out to the stream for a taste of fly fishing the way it was in the 1940s. I'm passing this rod along to you from an 80 year old gentleman who purchased it as a child and has now decided it's time for someone else to enjoy it. You don't see many of these Montague Sunbeams in original condition. Won't last long. In very good condition. $75
