0319: Horrocks-Ibbotson, varnished 6-strip bamboo fly rod. 9', 3/1, #5 line. 6 oz. Aluminm screw-nut down-locking reel seat with black plastic spacer. A nice, 5-3/4" half-Wells solid cork grip. Rolled welt, Nickel ferrules. Hardened steel snake guides, tip-top with Agate insert. Nickel-silver stripper guide with Agate insert. Tight variegated wraps with no tipping. No hook keeper, as issued. All joints full length and straight.
This is a mostly original 'Horrocks-Ibbottson' trade rod made for "Dave Cook - Quality Sporting Goods" of Denver, Colorado. A nice 80% "Dave Cook" label, and a complete 'Trojan" decal. In white ink on the shaft - reading towards the grip - is 'Tonkin Cane'. Unusual very tightly dyed multi-color wraps. One wrap has been repaired and a small 'invisible' wrap on a hook dig on the mid-joint. All hardware is original as is the finish.
The rod comes in a new custom sewn canvas bag with my label. A quality storage case is available. This rod will fit nicely in either a H-I, "Dave Cook", or, Colorado collection. Fairly scarce with both of the decals. Very serviceable, classic looking vintage piece. Very-good plus. $85
