0328: Horrocks-Ibbotson, varnished 6-strip bamboo fly rod. 8', 2/1, HCH or C (#6/7 line). 6 oz. Down-locking aluminum screw-band reel seat with black plastic barrel. A comfortable 6" solid cork 'half-Wells' grip. Rolled welt, nickel ferrules. Triple-plated chrome snake guides and tip-top. Chromed nickel-silver stripper guide. Antique Gold wraps tipped Black. All joints straight, tip joint is about 2 inches short due to a ferrule reset. This has negligible affect on the casting or overall action of the rod.
This is a professionally rehabilitated 'Horrocks-Ibbottson' made rod. The only factory marking is '6665' (H-I/Winchester?) inked on the shaft. This could date the rod to the mid-to-late 1930s era. The rich caramel-colored cane along with Gold and Black wraps creates a most attractive rod.
This is a medium action Bass-weight bamboo fly rod with original snake guides and UV resistant spar varnish. The rod is supplied in a new custom sewn sleeve. This rod falls short of being a collector, but is a very usable classic with a premium look. Vintage two-piece eight-footers are not that common. Attractive refinish bordering on Excellent. $165
