[ SOLD ] 0335: Montague, Sunbeam, Varnished six-strip bamboo fly rod. 8-1/2', 3/2 for #5 line. 5-1/2 oz. Chrome plated 'Titelock' reelseat, full-Wells solid cork grip. Chrome ferrules. Black, hardened steel snake guides, nickel-silver stripper guide with Agate insert. Wound-through strap & ring hook keeper, 'Perfection' style tip-tops. Blue wraps, no tipping. Original segmented cloth sleeve. A quality storage case is available seperately.
This early Montague Sunbeam's hardware appears original. A thin coat of varnish was added to the already serviceable wraps. The Montague 'Sunbeam' decal is virtually complete showing the maker and 'Sunbeam' model name. I'm not sure the signature wraps near the grip are original. All joints are full length and straight. The ferrules are tight to the bamboo and fit well.
This Montague 'Sunbeam' is certainly ready to fish as is, or it would certainly make a fine display rod on the wall of your fishing cabin. The solid-cork-ring grip has been carefully cleaned (not sanded) and inspected. I would rate this two-tip example as a good beginner's rod for medium Bass and Trout. Let it take you back in time when split-bamboo dominated the streams.
I'm offering this two-tip classic at a very reasonable price so that someone who would like to wade into fishing bamboo can do so without having to get a second mortgage. Nice clean example in very good+ condition. $
