This professionally refinished, earlier 'Goodwin-Granger', c.1938 'fast action' split-bamboo fly rod comes from a truly legendary Colorado maker. The model name, 'Granger Victory', on the butt joint is complete, bold, and readable. The chrome nickel silver internal uplocking reel seat is roll stamped "PAT.APR.12,1938","PAT.NO.2114107","MADE BY GOODWIN GRANGER COMPANY", "DENVER", and operates very smoothly. The butt ferrule ID. is .279", and the mid ferrule ID is .179". Suggesting this rod would be a 'Standard Trout' model.
The wraps on the butt and one tip joint are the original wrap material, while the mid joint and second tip joint guide wraps are not. However, all wraps are over original guides. The whole rod is protected by all new UV resistant spar varnish. A beautiful and functional refinish of a popular but fairly scarce, Goodwin-Granger Victory model. The professionally created book-matched second tip-joint supports nymph and streamer fishing.
Collectable, fishable, and sure to please. VG-Exc. $.
