[Sale Pending] 0395: Horrocks-Ibbotson,'Cascade', impregnated, 6-strip, bamboo fly rod. 8-1/2', 3/2 for #6 line. Down-locking screw-ring with Mahogany colored tenite spacer. Excellent 5-3/4", 'cigar' solid cork grip of 1/2-inch rings. Well fitting bright nickel ferrules with rolled welts. Hardened steel snake guides, and a bright stripper guide. Olive Green wraps tipped Black. Original segmented sleeve with partial H-I tag. No hook keeper, as issued. All joints proper length. Model name written on shaft in white ink reading towards the grip. Beautiful, nearly complete 'Leaping Trout' decal, plus 'Impregnated' label.
The "Cascade" was H-I's entry level impregnated model. It was produced using "Genuine Tonkin Cane" and sold in the 1950s for $20 - equivalent to $225 in today's dollars. The scarce and beautiful 'Leaping Trout" decal is nearly complete. The solid cork rings grip was chemically cleaned and is about excellent. The nine snake guides plus the stripper guide provide full power in each cast. The rod may have a factory applied finish even though the rod is labeled 'Impregnated'.
Supplied in a heavy-walled aluminum case that has ventilation holes. The rod is mostly original, very collectable; very fishable. VG+ to Excellent. $210
